The PinePhone Review – March, 2021

PinePhone in hand, I’ve spent the better part of a week testing it out and playing with the software to try and bring a fair and balanced review to the Fediverse. The phone itself has issues that we’re all aware of, and so does do the OS and app ecosystems. That said, I know that a lot of the issues I talk about are likely to have either already been solved, or in the process of before I even get to upload this video. The communities around this phone are working at a furious pace, and it’s very encouraging for the future of the product.

Please be aware, I’m not trying to disparage or criticize any of the projects or people involved in the development for the PinePhone, more trying to give an accurate picture of how the phone currently stacks up for a newbie, and what they should expect if they choose to purchase this phone.

I may get a couple of things wrong, so please feel free to let me know in the comments, and I’ll correct them in a future video.

Feel free to download and reuse any portion of the video in your own reviews or posts, under the CC-BY-SA license.
