The last couple of days have been a trial in patience. All of my servers were essentially thrown together without a thought about how they would grow or require resources over time. It’s come back to bite me in the ass.
Basically, Peertube was on a heavily underpowered NUC, Mastodon was side by side on the same machine, consuming far more resources than it has any bloody right to do.
I’ve had to rethink my strategy.
Small applications and low resource requirement apps like basic websites, have all been moved to my raspberry pi. So far, it’s working as it should.
The Radio Station is getting a mid range dedicated NUC. This should solve the speed play out and line out issues.
Finally, Peertube is getting a more powerful dedicated quad core NUC. I’m hoping this will fix the transcoding and live streaming problems. Why can’t Peertube support QuickSync or nvenc/ndec?
Right, now to actually do the work. 😂
